Set top boxes are a type of electronic waste and contain hazardous materials that are potentially harmful to the environment if not disposed of in a safe manner. Electronic waste also contains valuable metals and components that can be safely recycled to manufacture new products.

You can recycle set top boxes and personal video recorders (PVRs) through recycling programs offered by cable providers on behalf of electronics manufacturers.
