Mixed containers are accepted in curbside recycling programs in many communities throughout the eastern waste management region.  Check your curbside recycling collection schedule for a complete list of accepted items.

Mixed containers typically include:

  • Plastic containers #1-7 such as food tubs and toiletry bottles.
  • Metal containers such as aluminum pie plates and tin cans.
  • Paper containers such as milk cartons and Tetra Pak containers.

Glass containers are NOT accepted in curbside recycling programs. Glass beverage containers can be recycled along with other beverage containers.

City of Mount Pearl

The City of Mount Pearl provides collection and disposal services for household garbage as well as collection and recycling services for mixed containers and paper and cardboard. They also offer seasonal bulk waste collection services (May to October) for the disposal/recycling of bulk items including scrap metal, furniture, and yard waste.

Eastern Regional Service Board provides collection and disposal services for garbage, bulk waste and yard waste as well as collection and recycling services for mixed containers, paper and cardboard and scrap metal.

Town of Conception Bay South

The Town of Conception Bay South provides collection services for household garbage as well as  recyclables – mixed containers and paper and cardboard. The town also provides collection services for bulk waste, scrap metal, furniture, yard waste and electronic items throughout the year on an appointment basis. There are also free-drop programs for these items offered several times throughout the year.

Residential Drop-Off – Robin Hood Bay Regional Waste Management Facility

The Robin Hood Bay Regional Waste Management Facility provides residents in the eastern waste management region with free disposal services at the Residential Drop-Off site. Items accepted include: bulk waste, beverage containers (excludes glass), mixed containers, paper, cardboard, electronics, garbage, household hazardous waste (HHW), paint, oil, yard waste scrap metal and MMSB program tires (highway, passenger, light truck and motorcycle tires).

Milk cartons can be recycled with mixed containers, where curbside recycling programs are available.
