Medication can pollute our environment and water when sent to a landfill site or flushed down the drain.  Unused medication is considered hazardous waste and should be disposed of properly.

Labrador West Regional Landfill Site

The Towns of Labrador City and Wabush operate the Labrador West Regional Landfill which provides waste disposal services for residents and businesses in the western Labrador waste management region. This landfill has a public drop-off for garbage, bulk waste, scrap metal, household hazardous waste (HHW) such as oil, paint and batteries.

Yellow Pages Listing – Pharmacies

Many pharmacies throughout the province provide puncture-proof sharps collection containers to their customers and take them back when full. Many pharmacies also collected expired medications. Call your local pharmacy to inquire about these services.
