Fluorescent light bulbs, including compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) and tubes, contain a small amount of mercury and should be treated as hazardous waste and disposed of properly. Learn more about products containing mercury.

Residents may bring fluorescent light bulbs to a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) drop-off location or HHW collection event, where offered.

Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay Landfill Site

The Town of Happy Valley–Goose Bay operates the Happy Valley–Goose Bay landfill site which provides waste disposal services for local residents and businesses. This site accepts garbage,  household hazardous waste (HHW), oil and paint. Bulk waste, scrap metal and yard waste are collected during the spring clean-up program.

Think About It

Compact fluorescent light bulbs may cost more, but they will save you money in the long run.  They last for years and use far less energy than incandescent bulbs.
