Electronic waste may hazardous materials that are potentially harmful to the environment if not disposed of in a safe manner. Electronic waste also contains valuable metals and components that can be safely recycled to manufacture new products.

Common electronic waste items include:

  • display devices such as tvs and monitors
  • desktop printers and scanners
  • computers and peripherals
  • home theatre in a box (HTB) systems
  • cellular and non-cellular telephones
  • audio and video systems.

Corner Brook Green Depot

Corner Brook Green Depot, owned and operated by Scotia Recycling Limited Newfoundland, is part of a province-wide network of Green Depots accepting used beverage containers included in MMSB’s Beverage Container Recycling Program. This depot also accepts paint and electronics. Scotia Recycling will also accept limited amounts of paper and cardboard from residential customers.

The Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) operates an industry-led and government-approved recycling program for a range of electronic products.  EPRA offers retail drop-off locations throughout the province and also hosts collection events in some communities across the province.
