Electronic waste may hazardous materials that are potentially harmful to the environment if not disposed of in a safe manner. Electronic waste also contains valuable metals and components that can be safely recycled to manufacture new products.

Common electronic waste items include:

  • display devices such as tvs and monitors
  • desktop printers and scanners
  • computers and peripherals
  • home theatre in a box (HTB) systems
  • cellular and non-cellular telephones
  • audio and video systems.

Bay Roberts Green Depot is part of a province-wide network of Green Depots accepting used beverage containers included in MMSB’s Beverage Container Recycling Program. This depot also accepts paint and electronics.

This depot also accepts paint and electronics. Scotia Recycling will also accept limited amounts of paper and cardboard from residential customers.

Paradise Green Depot

Paradise Green Depot, owned and operated by Scotia Recycling Limited Newfoundland, is part of a province-wide network of Green Depots accepting used beverage containers included in MMSB’s Beverage Container Recycling Program. City of Mount Pearl

The City of Mount Pearl provides collection and disposal services for household garbage as well as collection and recycling services for mixed containers and paper and cardboard. They also offer seasonal bulk waste collection services (May to October) for the disposal/recycling of bulk items including scrap metal, furniture, yard waste and electronic waste.

Town of Conception Bay South

The Town of Conception Bay South provides collection services for household garbage as well as  recyclables – mixed containers and paper and cardboard. The town also provides collection services for bulk waste, scrap metal, furniture, yard waste and electronic items throughout the year on an appointment basis. There are also free-drop programs for these items offered several times throughout the year.

Items accepted at public drop-off sites include construction and demolition waste, scrap metal, electronics, MMSB program tires (highway, passenger, light truck and motorcycle tires), ATV tires, furniture, propane tanks and oil tanks (drained and cleaned).

The Waste Transfer Station (operated by Eastern Waste Management) provides residents with access to public drop-off sites for materials that cannot be disposed of through curbside collection programs. Items accepted at public drop-off sites include construction and demolition waste, scrap metal, electronics, MMSB program tires (highway, passenger, light truck and motorcycle tires), ATV tires, furniture, propane tanks and oil tanks (drained and cleaned).

The Electronic Products Recycling Association (EPRA) operates an industry-led and government-approved recycling program for a range of electronic products.  EPRA offers retail drop-off locations throughout the province and also hosts collection events in some communities across the province.

Renews-Cappahayden Waste Recovery Facility

Residential Drop-Off – Robin Hood Bay Regional Waste Management Facility

The Robin Hood Bay Regional Waste Management Facility provides residents in the eastern waste management region with free disposal services at the Residential Drop-Off site. Items accepted include: bulk waste, beverage containers (excludes glass), mixed containers, paper, cardboard, electronics, garbage, household hazardous waste (HHW), paint, oil, yard waste scrap metal and MMSB program tires (highway, passenger, light truck and motorcycle tires).

Computers for Schools – St. John’s

Computers for Schools is a non-profit organization that accepts donations of used computer equipment that is still in good working order, which is then refurbished (if necessary) and donated to schools and libraries in need.
